Located in Glendale just off the west loop of 101 between Glendale Avenue and West Maryland, Westgate is the new hot spot of the valley area. The University of Phoenix Stadium, host of the Superbowl XLII game on February 3, 2008 sits just to the south of Westgate. The Glendale Arena, in the heart of Westgate, features over 160 sports and entertainment events per year and is the home of the Phoenix Coyotes.
The flagship AMC Theater seats 4,000 and provides 20 screens and on-site cafe. The large variety of restaurants and shops provide plenty of places to eat, shop, relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Fountain park, with small fountains and wading area, is a great place for young children to play and cool off. The large fountains outside
the arena enthrall visitors with a beautiful display of water synchronized to music. Night brings the added attraction of lights playing on the ponds and sprays of water.
Described as "the furthest possible from golf course living" this new urban center breathes exciting life into the west valley. Whether your tastes run to gourmet coffee, chocolate and wine, fine foods, or entertainment, you are sure to find it here.
Westgate is being built in phases. Plans include several parks, live entertainment areas, "urban living" condominiums, retail shops, hotel and convention center and numerous restaurants. Fun and aesthetically pleasing, Westgate is a place to explore for all ages.

Events at the arena and stadium can bring traffic, so plan ahead. If you are not attending an event, you might want to visit
when an event is not taking place. At the time this article was written (April 2007), parking was plentiful even during events.

|
Accessibility
Wide walkways allow easy maneuverability with strollers, scooters, wheelchairs, walkers, etc. Misters and overhead shades and umbrellas offer protection
from sun and heat. Handicap parking is a plentiful. Several streets run through Westgate, making it possible to drive into the area, drop off a person, then park the car in one of the several parking lots.
|
Traveling with children
Bring your hunger and thirst with you. You'll find plenty of excellent food and beverage choices at Westgate. Many restaurants cater to adults; others are more appropriate for young children.
Parks provide play areas for children; fountain park includes a water play area. Children will delight in the new movie theater, and enjoy ice cream and treats in the many
cafes and eateries. Live, outdoor music is part of the future plan.
Traveling with pets
Westgate is a busy, urban area. Since pets are not allowed in restaurants or shops, this is not a place for pets.
NEVER leave pets unattended in a vehicle.
