Pioneer Arizona: Living History Museum

Known as the largest living history museum west of the rockies, Pioneer is a place where old west history truly comes alive. Stand in the center of town and take in the surroundings. Breathe in the fresh air and notice the silence. This is as close to being transported back in time as you will come. Phoenix hasn't yet reached this area, so the views from town are still the way they were a century ago. Buildings were rescued from other locations in Arizona and brought to Pioneer. The 90 acre town is set up the way a real town would have been laid out and consists of authentic historical buildings as well as reproductions. Walk down dirt roads to explore a victorian house, 1880s school house, 1890s teacherage (teacher's one room house), church, farm and more.

Historians are available at various locations to answer questions about the buildings and their contents.

Pioneer also offers special events such as cook-outs, music concerts, holiday activities etc.

Walk the roads, or ride in a wagon (not wheelchair accessible). Wheelchairs are also available for use.

The town covers over 90 acres and the dirt roads are in good condition for walking or riding.
